Lil Silva – “Caught Up” (Feat. Cosima)
UK producer and BANKS collaborator Lil Silva has been prolific with EPs over the years. I would love to hear a full-length offering from him, but he seems to like keeping things short and sweet, much like British television seasons. His latest EP is the upcoming Jimi, due later this spring. We’ve already heard “Lines,” which seamlessly zooms in and out of trippy house and experimental wanderings. Today, he follows up with “Caught Up,” and taps atmospheric pop singer-songwriter Cosima for guest vocals.
The song is a rumbling, menacing, gyrating frenzy of synths, atmospheric sweeps, and booming, dancehall-tinged drums. Cosima’s vocals mostly float gently above, but also dip into the mix and get lost, which fits well with the feelings she’s expressing: being totally consumed by a love that probably isn’t right for her. The combination of Silva and Cosima is evocative and alluring; I wouldn’t mind a full project from them as a duo either. Listen.
Jimi is out 5/13 on Good Years Music. Pre-order it here.
