Oyinda – “Flatline”
London-raised Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer Oyinda is set to drop her Restless Minds EP this summer. She makes slow-simmering excursions with her piercing vocal gauze settling above. The lead single, “Never Enough,” was a sultry, slow-churning romp, and her latest offering, “Flatline,” continues down that path. She lightly sings over deep, menacing bass: “A little passion, a little harder, could you hurry? It’s an emergency/ A little passion, a little harder, could you treat me with some urgency?” And though it’s a sensual, tender plea, it stings with longing and desire. There is an alluring unresolved tension in the contrast of her vocals, the uncanny potency of the lyrics, and low-end aesthetic cut with higher synth flourishes. Restless Minds is shaping up to be undeniably powerful through seduction and raw vulnerability. Listen to “Flatine” below.
