Metronomy – “Old Skool” Video
Metronomy are back after two-year hiatus following 2014’s Love Letters. Yesterday, the brains behind the dance rock outfit, Joe Mount, took to Annie Mac’s BBC 1 Radio show to announce the upcoming album Summer 08 and share the lead single “Old Skool.” Today, Metronomy reveals the album’s tracklist along with a video for “Old Skool” directed by Dawn Shadforth and starring Sharon Hogan.
The clip is a ’70s dinner party, an aesthetic appropriate for this disco-leaning, 808-heavy, DJ-scratching throwback of a jam. Complete with shag carpets, big lapels, bell bottoms, and plenty of booze and food, the party goers eat and drink to their hearts’ content before dancing the night away, showcasing some old-school moves like the hustle. Things get a bit weird in spots, and it adds to the charm of the song and visuals. This video looks like it was a lot of fun to make. Check it out.
