Homeboy Sandman – “Nonbelievers” Video
Lanky, heady Queens MC Homeboy Sandman dropped the stellar Kindness For Weakness earlier this month. Two things you can count on from the Boy Sand are thought-provoking lyrics and clever videos. For this album, the visuals have been ’70s-centric. The clip for “Talking Bleep” recalled Bruce Lee films with Sandman battling babbling foes. His latest set of visuals for “Nonbelievers” recalls Blaxploitation-era cinema. The song is easily adaptable for a video because Sandman has a gift for storytelling, but the Calmatic-directed images transform Sandman’s vivid vision into a Foxy Brown-esque story with the female lead recalling Beyoncé in the Austin Powers threequel Goldmember. Sandman and his lady go about doing what couples do before their fun is interrupted and she has to lay the smackdown on some poor jive turkey. Watch.
Kindness For Weakness is out now on Stones Throw.
