Jack & Amanda Palmer – “Glacier” (John Grant Cover) Live Video (Stereogum Premiere)
In a few weeks, Amanda Palmer is releasing an album with her father Jack, a semi-professional choral singer at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC. The album chronicles a sort of healing process between the two Palmers, who were separated when Amanda was less than one year old. As Jack explains in a press release, “It was one of Amanda’s songs that began healing our fractured relationship. Years later, I hope the love that went into this project will perhaps touch listeners in the same way.”
You Got Me Singing features Amanda on piano and ukulele and Jack on guitar, with both Palmers lending their voices to an array of cover songs from multiple generations. The most recent cover in their oeuvre is “Glacier,” John Grant’s 2013 epic about being LGBTQ in America. Below, check out footage of Jack and Amanda performing the track live at Koko in London earlier this month.
