Between his embrace of the Crying Dawson meme and his role as a heightened version of himself on the underrated sitcom Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23, James Van Der Beek has proven himself to be a delightfully affable dude who’s pretty much game for whatever goofy shit you can throw at him. The latest goofy shit? Playing the role of Diplo in a new promo to announce the EDM superstar’s upcoming Mad Decent Block Parties.

In the clip, the erstwhile Dawson Leery — aka “Diplo” — takes you through a day in the life of Diplo. “You know, people come up to me all the time, they say, ‘Diplo, man, your life must be crazy!’ Nah. It’s just life, fam,” as he sagely puts it. “Ain’t no different than y’all’s.” At least, that’s assuming that y’all’s day begins with waking up to the soothing strains of your own personal harpist and includes a random ninja attack.
