Prinze George – “Freeze” (Stereogum Premiere)
After the first single from their 2015 EP caught our eye, Maryland-based pop trio Prinze George are finally set to unleash their debut LP Illiterate Synth Pop in August. Recorded in Minneapolis with Evan Bakke (Prince, Fraea, Soul Asylum) at Sounds Expensive Studio, the duo kept coming returning to the studio in between tours with the likes of Albert Hammond Jr., Little Boots, Walk The Moon and more to help them with the tracks.
The first taste of Illiterate Synth Pop comes in the form of “Freeze,” which highlights Naomi Almquist’s vocals with a thunderous drum beat from “Isabelle De Leon and spastic but complimentary instrumental production from Kenny Grimm that perfectly exemplifies the album’s title. Of the track, Almquist said “The message of ‘Freeze’ is simple; if you’re going to take risks in life and dive into the unknown, you might as well do it together. The experiences of fear, joy, and sadness are better when shared.” Check it out below.
