Last month, math-addled New Jersey metalcore pioneers the Dillinger Escape Plan announced that their next album — Dissociation, out next month — would be their last, and that they would break up when they’d finished touring behind it. Today, they’ve unveiled the first single from that final album. “Symptom Of Terminal Illness” is a brooding churn that never quite takes off into the splintered insanity that has long characterized this band. It has some of the atmospheric burn of noted Dillinger admirers like Faith No More or Nine Inch Nails, and you can hear it below.
