Donald Trump Still Complaining About “Overrated” Hamilton, Mike Pence Says He Wasn’t Offended
Vice President-elect Mike Pence saw Hamilton on Friday night, and at the end of the show, the cast addressed him directly, respectfully urging him to “uphold our American values and to work on behalf of all of us.” They were really polite about it, but because Donald Trump is Donald Trump — you know, a thin-skinned egomaniac blowhard — he got all butthurt, demanding an apology for “harassing” Pence. And apparently he’s still preoccupied about it, because after a series of tweets yesterday, he returned to social media this morning to again demand an apology and get in a little dig about how Hamilton isn’t even that good:
Our wonderful future V.P. Mike Pence was harassed last night at the theater by the cast of Hamilton, cameras blazing. This should not happen!

The Theater must always be a safe and special place. The cast of Hamilton was very rude last night to a very good man, Mike Pence. Apologize!

The cast and producers of Hamilton, which I hear is highly overrated, should immediately apologize to Mike Pence for their terrible behavior

For his part, Pence says he wasn’t actually offended at all. “My daughter and I and her cousins really enjoyed the show. Hamilton is just an incredible production. Incredibly talented people. It was a real joy to be there,” he told Fox News Sunday. “When we arrived, we heard a few boos and we heard some cheers, and I nudged my kids and reminded them, ‘That’s what freedom sounds like.’ But at the end, I did hear what was said from the stage, and I can tell you, I wasn’t offended by what was said. I’ll leave to others whether that was the appropriate venue to say it.”
