Sting received the American Music Award Of Merit at the AMAs tonight, making him the first honoree of the decade and the first since Annie Lennox in 2008. After being introduced by Robert Downey Jr., Sting took the stage to perform a medley of Police hits like “Message In A Bottle” and “Every Breath You Take” (plus his 57th & 9th lead single “I Can’t Stop Thinking About You”). “While I may be an Englishman in New York, my musical soul is all American,” he said in his acceptance speech.
