Watch Janelle Monáe Speak And Perform At The Women’s March On Washington
The Women’s March On Washington is the biggest event in our nation’s capitol this week, drawing an estimated half million people to support women’s rights and protest Donald Trump’s election. Dozens of other similar marches and rallies around the the world drew hundreds of thousands more in solidarity with the DC event. Among the many speakers and performers in Washington was singer and actress Janelle Monáe, whose speech included the words, “We have names. We are complete human beings, and they cannot police us, so get off our areolas. Get off our vaginas. Again, we birthed this nation, and we can unbirth a nation if we choose.” She also performed a rousing version of her protest song “Hell You Talmbout” alongside Jidenna and others.
