Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band 50th Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition Out Next Month
This summer, 1967’s Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, the Beatles album most likely to be in your parents’ record collection, celebrates its 50th anniversary. And to celebrate, the band is planning to release a few different reissues of the album. There will be a single-disc reissue, a double-disc, and a monster six-CD set.
As Ultimate Classic Rock reports, the box set will include everything you’d expect: 100 minutes of outtakes (including some previously unreleased ones), a documentary on the making of the album (on both DVD and Blu-Ray), posters, a 114-page booklet, a special mono mix of the album. It’ll also include multiple versions of “Strawberry Fields Forever” and “Penny Lane,” two standalone singles released before Sgt. Pepper’s, which Beatles manager George Martin always regretted excluding from the album itself. Here’s a trailer for the reissue. For the full details on what the reissue includes, check Rolling Stone.
The Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band 50th-anniversary edition is out 5/26 on Capitol.
