Ratboys – “Westside”
Ratboys are releasing their sophomore album, GN, in just about a month. So far, we’ve heard “Control” and “Elvis Is In The Freezer,” and today they’ve shared the record’s third single, “Westside.” It’s a dreamy and pillowy cut in which Julia Steiner laments an unhurried development in sleepy but evocative lines like “I fall asleep to the memories of my dreams” and “I have never loved another person until I found your name on a paper plate in the airplane.” What the cryptic lyrics don’t illuminate is more than made up for by the track’s swirling despondency.
