Stream Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah Diaspora
This year, the great New Orleans jazz trumpeter Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah is planning on releasing a whole troika of albums that he’s calling the Centennial Trilogy. Earlier this year, he released his Ruler Rebel album, and our jazz columnist Phil Freeman was into it. This week, he’ll follow it up with the new one Diaspora, and we’ve already posted the early tracks “The Walk” and “Diaspora.” The album draws on funk, rap, and R&B; Scott likes to call his style “stretch music” rather than jazz. And if you’re a jazz neophyte, as so many of us are, you should know that it’s a remarkably warm and melodic album, one that’s easy to get into. Right now, you can stream the whole thing below, via the Hype Machine.
Diaspora is out 6/23 on Ropeadope.
