Watch Jason Isbell Perform A Rousing “Hope The High Road” On Colbert

Earlier this month, the great roots-music songwriter Jason Isbell and his band the 400 Unit released a moving and excellent album called The Nashville Sound. And last night, Isbell and the 400 Unit (including Isbell's wife Amanda Shires, a great songwriter in her own right) did musical-guest duty on Stephen Colbert's Late Show, and they thrillingly knocked out the Nashville Sound single "Hope The High Road." Isbell, in a suit and a barbershop-fresh haircut, looked slick as hell, and he casually blazed through a triumphant guitar solo like it was nothing. It's a great performance, and you can watch it below.

The Nashville Sound is out now on Isbell's own Southeastern label. There can't be more of them than us.
