MTV has announced its initial lineup of performers for this year's Video Music Awards. In addition to host Katy Perry, the slate includes Miley Cyrus, whose last two VMAs performances (grinding on Robin "Beetlejuice" Thicke in 2013 and surprise-releasing her album with the Flaming Lips in 2015) were extremely memorable. Also on deck is our melodramatic heroine Lorde plus the Weeknd, Fifth Harmony, Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes, and America's best rock band, Thirty Seconds To Mars. The VMAs air Sunday, 8/27 on MTV.
