Father John Misty – “Gilded Cage”
While recording the most vulnerable album of his career — which is also one of the best albums of the year so far — Father John Misty found time to appear in the the new movie Hotel Artemis. Mr. Tillman also contributed a new song to the film that doesn’t appear on the aforementioned God’s Favorite Customer.
As summed up by my colleague Peter Helman, the movie sounds pretty interesting:
Written and directed by Drew Pearce, who also helmed the music video for FJM’s I Love You, Honeybear track “The Night Josh Tillman Came To Our Apartment,” the film stars Jodie Foster as a nurse who runs a secret, John Wick-style members-only hospital for criminals. Sterling K. Brown, Sofia Boutella, Jeff Goldblum, and Atlanta’s Bryan Tyree Henry are also in it, and the Mist plays a bank robber who appears at the beginning of the movie.
Cliff Martinez, famous for his work on the Drive soundtrack, did the official score. It diverges significantly from Tillman’s contribution to the soundtrack, its final track called “Gilded Cage.” The song grayed out on Apple Music USA but 90 seconds can be heard here on Apple Music Australia.
You can see the FJM with a gun about 20 seconds into the trailer:
