Shutdown Share “By Your Side” From First EP Of New Music In 24 Years
At one point in time, Shutdown were a pretty big fixture in New York City’s hardcore scene. But shortly after releasing their 2000 album Few And Far Between, they ceased operations until briefly reuniting until 2010. Last year, they put out an EP of re-recorded old songs called Still… Against All Odds. Now, it seems like they’re about to be back in full force with the announcement of their EP By Your Side, the title track of which is out now.
Shutdown’s Della Croce says in a press release:
We never officially broke up. We needed to stop touring, and we started doing a few other things. We all tried to play when we could, but it wasn’t consistent. A couple of us had side projects going so we could keep playing, and we would write some Shutdown songs once in a while, but we realized we needed a plan of what we wanted to do and what the band should sound like. We’ve talked a lot over the past couple of years about how we’ve evolved and grown as musicians and songwriters, and we wanted everyone to hear what we were talking about.
Fittingly, “By Your Side” is a song about persevering, and its video was shot at the (in)famous LES Coleman Skatepark. Check it out and see the full EP tracklist below.
