Young Thug Proposes To Mariah The Scientist Onstage In Atlanta

Young Thug and Mariah The Scientist are engaged. The Atlanta rapper proposed to the R&B singer onstage at State Farm Arena Tuesday night during his Hometown Hero benefit concert, and as video of the big moment reveals, she said yes.

The proposal comes after Thug (born Jeffery Williams) issued multiple public apologies in September for cheating on Mariah (born Mariah Buckles) before his arrest on RICO charges in 2022. Mariah seemed to dump Thug after news of the cheating came out, but things appear to be full speed ahead now. Congrats to them, and here's hoping they can make it work.

Thug's RICO arrest led to the longest trial in Georgia history, which ended with a plea deal on Halloween 2024. One of the terms of his sentence was a 10-year ban from the metro Atlanta area, but Fulton County Superior Court Judge Paige Reese Whitaker has since altered the restrictions to allow for flights through Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and approved business ventures, including performances.

In fact, Thugger already played a concert in Atlanta in September, performing in front of the Fulton County Courthouse shortly after the release of new album UY Scuti.
