Seth Meyers Gets Drunk With Sabrina Carpenter, Talks Rob Reiner With Jack Black

Despite no musical performance, Tuesday night's episode of Late Night With Seth Meyers was extremely music-adjacent. For one thing, Meyers welcomed Sabrina Carpenter, who has become a regular at his old show Saturday Night Live, for his latest Day Drinking segment.

During their time at NYC's Ripple Room, Meyers and Carpenter played a game in which they had to choose between answering questions and drinking from a giant Long Island Iced Tea. This involved Carpenter rating Meyers a 7/10 with regard to his looks and Meyers earnestly performing "The Star Spangled Banner." At one point they don red light therapy masks, which prove difficult to fit a straw through, and they later attempt to read coffee orders off cue cards (including "large black coffee for Osama Bin Laden") without cracking up. They also did a bit called Pet Sounds (see, music-adjacent!) in which they looked at pictures of animals and attempted to make that animal's sound. There's more, and you can watch it all below.

Also on the show, Jack Black was there to promote Anaconda and ended up talking about his love for the late Rob Reiner. "There's no School Of Rock without Spinal Tap," Black said, also noting the fake rock band's influence on Tenacious D. Speaking of comedic music, before Reiner came up, Meyers mentioned that 20 years ago today, Black hosted the SNL episode on which "Lazy Sunday" debuted, more or less kicking off the Lonely Island's reign on the show. (He remembers not realizing just how good the song was until Beck shouted it out.) In the carousel below, you'll see how it kicked off YouTube's reign as well:

Here's Black's interview.

Rob and Michele Reiner's children Romy and Jake Reiner shared this statement today:

“Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day. The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends. We are grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness, and support we have received not only from family and friends but people from all walks of life. We now ask for respect and privacy, for speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity, and for our parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave."

Back to Sabrina Carpenter: The trailer for her Seth Rogen-produced Muppet Show special just dropped. It's airing Feb. 4 on Disney+ and ABC, and you can get a preview below.
