It's Cameron Winter Winter. You already knew this. Geese's Getting Killed is the critical-consensus album of the year, and it's topping all kinds of year-end lists, including ours. Winter's solo debut Heavy Metal is also placing high on lots of year-end lists, even though it technically came out last year. (Maybe last winter was Cameron Winter Winter, too.) Right now, Winter is on a short run of solo shows. In New York, Paul Thomas Anderson and Benny Safdie filmed his performance. In Los Angeles, he covered This Is Lorelei and debuted a new song. In Chicago, he did another new song.
On Wednesday night, Cameron Winter played a solo gig at Chicago's Rockefeller Memorial Chapel. A church show! I wonder if he passed around a collection basket. I wonder if, in the time between the main set and the encores, everyone in the crowd stood up to shake hands with everyone sitting near them and be like "peace be with you." Probably not. During his set, Winter played a new song, and Setlist.fm seems to think that it's called "It's Being Waited For." Great song! Winter hit some notes on that thing! Here's a video.
Apparently. Cameron Winter has already played a grand total of 13 unreleased solo songs live; someone listed all of them out on this Reddit thread. We don't know whether Winter plans to release all of those songs, or any of those solo songs, but he's already got another solo LP's worth of material.
While he was in Chicago, Winter got together with Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy, and the two of them visited Wiener's Circle, an establishment that's famous for serving Chicago-style char hot togs and insulting customers. Next month, Winter will play Wilco's Sky Blue Sky festival in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Tweedy posted this photo on Thursday, and Scott would like to note that "a '$0' joke writes itself" even though he already made that joke.

In new new issue of New York magazine, Cameron Winter is listed as one of the reasons to love New York. The issue has four variant covers, and Winter posed with Blondie legend Debbie Harry one one of them. They look awfully sweet together. According to New York, that's the two of them on the train, listening to the Modern Lovers' "Roadrunner" together.
That's two different photos of Cameron Winter smiling! It's so wholesome! In news that's way more of an obvious snark target, Yungblud went on Howard Stern earlier this week and discussed the question of whether rock is dead. In listing off some of the reasons why he thinks it's not dead, Yungblud rattled off Knocked Loose, Turnstile, Amyl And The Sniffers, Lambrini Girls, Fontaines D.C., and Geese. (There was another one, too, but I couldn't make out what he said.) I agree with him, but shut up, Yungblud.
Is Cameron Winter going to go on Howard Stern? Is that what we're looking at next?
