Charli XCX has a new record coming out, and it's a soundtrack album, but it's not the soundtrack album to her movie. Instead, Charli made an LP's worth of tracks for Emerald Fennell's new Wuthering Heights adaptation, and both movie and soundtrack drop next month. Meanwhile, regular Charli collaborator A. G. Cook also has a new soundtrack coming out, and it's the soundtrack to Charli's movie, which Cook is also in. Charli's Brat Summer mockumentary The Moment arrives later this month, and so does Cook's soundtrack album. Got all that? No? Well, whatever. Here's a new A. G. Cook track.
Cook, the former PC Music mastermind, already shared "Dread - The Moment," the first single from his soundtrack to The Moment. That was the ominous extended "I Love It" remix that Charli used at the end of her Coachella set last year. Today, Cook hits us with "Offscreen," a nasty dance instrumental that goes for five and a half minutes. It doesn't really sound like film-score music, and I mean that as a compliment. When I hear this over movie theater speakers, I expect my pulse rate to spike. Below, check out "Offscreen" and the just-unveiled tracklist for Cook's The Moment soundtrack.
