Franz Ferdinand released their most recent album The Human Fear about a year ago, and they've used the intervening time to remind us that they can make anything sound like a Franz Ferdinand song. Recently, they've covered Chappell Roan, Britney Spears, and the Smiths (with Johnny Marr). More recently, they visited Australia and paid tribute to their host country with an Amyl And The Sniffers cover.
In the most recent edition of Triple J's long-running Like A Version series, Franz Ferdinand cover Amyl And The Sniffers' 2024 snarl-stomp rocker "U Should Not Be Doing That." Lead Franz man Alex Kapranos loves that song, and it's not really too terribly far from what Franz Ferdinand already do. Kapranos definitely has some fun with Amy Taylor's lyrics, making them flirty rather than defiant. Check out the Franz cover and the Amyl original below.
