Georgia Gets By Announces Debut Album Heavy Meadow: Hear “Faded Rose”

Auckland's Georgia Nott is part of the indie electro-pop duo BROODS, but lately she's been releasing solo music under the name Georgia Gets By. We posted her single "Madeline" two summers ago, which was part of an EP for Gorilla vs. Bear's record label Luminelle. This week Nott revealed her debut album Heavy Meadow is on the way. We don't have many details about the LP yet, but today she's back with its lead single.

The self-released "Faded Rose" is an elegant yet slightly lo-fi ballad with a compelling, layered vocal performance from Nott. "Faded rose/ See it in my face," she sings over a sparse programmed beat and some melancholic chords. "Sometimes I feel like the only one in the cold/ I wanna bloom again/ And I'd die for it if I had to." Eventually some symphonic strings enter the frame, lifting the track to eerie new heights. It reminds me of Shura, which is a W as far as I'm concerned.
