Tyler, The Creator released two albums within this year's Grammys eligibility window, and he performed songs from both on the Crypto.com Arena stage. After entering in full Chromakopia regalia to perform an aggro "Thought I Was Dead," Tyler switched into Don't Tap The Glass mode for some slick dancing and "Sugar On My Tongue." The change-over between album eras involved a brief sketch co-starring the great Regina King as an auto mechanic. It all ended with an explosion.
Tyler was nominated for six Grammy awards this year between the two LPs. Earlier today he won the newly reinstated Best Album Cover award for Chromakopia but lost Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, Best Alternative Music Album, and Best Rap Performance. He still has a shot at Album Of The Year for Chromakopia.
At a Grammy weekend gala Thursday night, Tyler gave a speech in honor of Pharrell, who is also scheduled to perform at the Grammys tonight as part of another lifetime achievement award.
