Only one month in, Pharrell has already had a momentous 2026. Not all of it has been great; he was sued by his former Neptunes production partner Chad Hugo. On the bright side, he debuted new music during his Louis Vuitton's FW26 show in Paris and was knighted by French president Emmanuel Macron during the Fashion Week festivities. Thursday night, he was honored by the Recording Academy's Black Music Collective at a pre-Grammys event that featured a speech from Tyler, The Creator and performances by Justin Timberlake, Clipse, and Leon Thomas.
As for the Grammys ceremony itself, Pharrell received the Dr. Dre Impact Award. Q-Tip presented the honor to Skateboard P, who used his speech to offer abundant praise for both the A Tribe Called Quest legend and the award's namesake West Coast rap mogul, two titans of hip-hop production who came before him. Near the end of the night, Pharrell took the stage with his old friends Clipse, first-time Grammy winners today.
