Last summer the Chicago multi-disciplinary musicians Whitney Johnson, Lia Kohl, and Macie Stewart teamed up on a gorgeous, mournful two-part string composition called BODY SOUND [STONE PIECE]. At the time, a full-length album was teased; today, it's officially announced. The trio will release their collaborative debut LP BODY SOUND in March, preceded today by opening track "dawn | pulse."
The track titles on BODY SOUND are borrowed from Yoko Ono's book of text scores Grapefruit. The album features Johnson on viola, Kohl on cello, and Stewart on violin, in addition to vocals from all three. The singing is wordless, minimal, and choral on "dawn | pulse," a sort of ambient classical track that could easily soundtrack a tearjerking cinematic experience. Listen below.
