Eades’ Harry Jordan Announces Debut Solo EP This Beautiful Life: Hear The Title Track

Apparently they have guys in England who sound like Pete Yorn. One of them is Harry Jordan from the Leeds rock band Eades, who has announced his solo debut EP This Beautiful Life today for release in April. The title track is a post-grunge roots-rock exercise that feels ready-made for Y2K-era VH1, building to a big distorted climax with the refrain "Accept what you are!" It was inspired by something truly terrible: the suicide of several friends.

Jordan shared the following:

I started writing the track a few years back after thinking about a friend of mine who took his own life, reflecting on how he managed to get himself into a place where he felt there was no escape. Since then I have had two other friends take their own lives - including someone who was like an older brother figure to me. I revisited the song not long after his passing with a very fresh and raw perspective that gave the song a much deeper meaning to me. I often wish he could have seen the world and everything he had to live for differently.

He was always a fan of music in its rawest form, often talking about songs that stripped away the “fireworks”, which is why I limited pretty much all the parts to a single take to capture that innocence and excitement of the first time you play something. He inspired a lot of my writing back then and even more now since I’ve had time to reflect on our relationship and the manner of his passing. I’m sure this won’t be the last iteration of this track. It opened up a door of creativity for me using writing as a form of catharsis and healing.
