Stereolab – “Cloud Land” & “Flashes In The Afternoon”

Space age bachelor pad OGs Stereolab are back to dropping new music whenever the feeling is right, and that's a beautiful thing to witness. Last year, they returned with Instant Holograms On Metal Film, their first new album in 15 years, and they followed it with the double single "Fed Up With Your Job" b/w "Constant And Uniform Movement Unknown." Today, they're letting the world hear two new songs.

Previously, Sterelab's tracks "Cloud Land" and "Flashes In The Afternoon" were available on a tour-only single, but they never showed up online until now. Both tracks are in the six-minute range, and that's historically a great place for Stereolab songs to be. "Cloud Land" is a vast epic with awesomely wormy synths and cool percussive breaks, while "Flashes In The Afternoon" is a playfully chintzy instrumental that messes around with old-timey easy-listening sounds. Check out both below.

"Cloud Land" b/w "Flashes In The Afternoon" is out on the band's own label Duophonic UHF Disks.
