Alex G & The Blue Nile’s Paul Buchanan Scored Jane Schoenbrun’s New Movie Teenage Sex And Death At Camp Miasma

Indie rock singer-songwriter and generational icon Alex G composed the score for Jane Schoenbrun's first two movies, We're All Going To The World's Fair (2021) and I Saw The TV Glow (2024). As of today, we know he scored the third one too — with a noteworthy partner this time.

In a tweet today, Schoenbrun announced details about their forthcoming feature Teenage Sex And Death At Camp Miasma. The leads are Hacks star Hannah Einbinder and The X-Files legend Gillian Anderson. Castmates include Amanda Fix, Eva Victor, Zach Cherry, Sarah Sherman, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Kevin McDonald, Patrick Fischler and "Jack Haven as Little Death." A follow-up tweet mentions further actors Arthur Conti, Dylan Baker, Quintessa Swindell, Jess McLeod, Louise Weard, Avalon Fast, Willy McGee, and Hunter Dillon.

This being a music website, the biggest news is that the movie's music is by Alex G and Paul Buchanan of the Blue Nile. That's dope. I'm looking forward to hearing that. So is Taylor Swift, surely.

"I make movies I wish existed when I was a kid," Schoenbrun said last year upon announcing the movie. "Teenage Sex And Death At Camp Miasma is my best attempt at the 'sleepover classic': an insane yet cozy midnight odyssey that beckons to unsuspecting viewers from the horror section at the local video store."

The film's synopsis makes it sound mighty meta: "In Teenage Sex And Death At Camp Miasma, the infamous Camp Miasma slasher franchise is getting rebooted yet again. But when the latest movie’s director becomes obsessed with the mysterious, reclusive actress who played the “final girl” in the original film, a whole new kind of slasher emerges from the bottom of the lake."

Teenage Sex And Death At Camp Miasma is in theaters 8/7.
