YG might not be the consistent force that he once was, but when he gets sufficiently pissed off, he still makes head-slap California street-rap with absolute authority. That's what happens on "State Of Emergency," the latest single from his upcoming album The Gentlemen's Club.
YG has been rolling out The Gentlemen's Club for a very long time now; "Lovers Or Friends," the Leon Thomas collab he released back in August, was part of that. A press release claims that "State Of Emergency" is the final pre-release single, though the album still has no announced release date. But none of that matters when you hear the man issuing threats and warnings over a sleek post--G-funk beat, letting absolute disgust creep into his voice.
I like how the "State Of Emergency' track turns all dramatic, with orchestral strings and funny call-and-response backing vocals. I also like YG's pronunciation of the name "Tyson Fury," which sounds like another thing. I don't know who he's talking to on this one, but he's definitely got a specific target or targets in mind.
