Terror – “Destruction Of My Soul”

Mark Miller

The fiercely beloved and endlessly energetic hardcore elders Terror are about to have a big year. They deserve one. Terror are nearly a quarter-century into their run, and they somehow manage to consistently kick ass. Next month, they'll release their new album Still Suffer. Nails frontman and former Terror guitarist Todd Jones produced the record, and it's got appearances from Hot Water Music's Chuck Ragan, Mindforce's Jay Peta, King Nine's Dan Seely, and God's Hate's Brody King. Once it's out, Terror will head out on a huge headlining tour with Pain Of Truth, End It, and Start Today. We've already heard the Still Suffer title track, and now they're back with a new one called "Destruction Of My Soul."

"Destruction Of My Soul" sounds exactly like a Terror song — fast riffs, impassioned shouts, big anthemic fists-up chorus, nasty breakdown. The magic of this band is that they can go through all the hardcore motions without sounding like they're going through motions. Instead, the restrictions of the form give them momentum and confidence, and they attack it with so much heart and commitment that you just have to marvel at it. Listen below.

Still Suffer is out 4/24 on Flatspot.
