Jack White never went anywhere, but he's definitely back. He's dropped two new singles "G.O.D. And The Broken Ribs" and "Derecho Demonico." White is going to be the musical guest on this week's Saturday Night Live, with Jack Black hosting. Yes, finally the yin and yang of Jacks are coming together. The world will be balanced. There's good possibility that White will perform one of these songs on the show, if not both.
The new singles are classic rickety-sounding Jack White garage rock. "G.O.D. And The Broken Ribs" seems like a psychedelic, apocalyptic take on Adam and Eve. "Welcome to the end of the world/ Nobody left but one boy and one girl and one other," White spews over romping blues. "But you know we can't live like a sister and brother/ They're gonna make you a mother now." Guitars screech and swell. It's somewhat thrilling. "Derecho Demonico" also has some delicious guitar tones and a very sick organ solo.
