The hugely influential Scottish electronic maximalist Rustie has been out of the game in recent years, taking a hiatus for his own health after releasing his 2015 surprise album EVENIFUDONTBELIEVE. After coming back for the 2023 single "Black Ice Mudra," Rustie vanished again. Over the past few months, however, Rustie has been quietly posting new tracks on YouTube, without doing anything to hype their arrival up. Over the weekend, we got another new one.

In 2026, Rustie has shared exactly one track per month: "Athanasia" in January, "Amentet" in February, "Trizkel Sun" in March. "Arora," his latest, samples a couple of old Rustie tracks, using those elements to make a disorienting, blown-out club-music jackhammer. I have to imagine that we'll eventually get a fully mastered version of this that'll sound crazy and cinematic on a big soundsystem, but the current lo-fi version has its own scuzzy power. The video makes heavy use of the headbanging-cat gif. Check it out below.
