Montreal indie rockers knitting were a Stereogum Band To Watch in 2024, and now they're getting ready to follow their debut Some Kind Of Heaven with a new album called Souvenir. We already posted the blurry, grungy lead single "I Want To Remember Everything," and now they follow it with "Here Comes," another song that lands right in the fuzzy '90s alt-rock pleasure zone.
"Here Comes" is a woozy churn that's way more melodic than most tracks that could be described with the term "woozy churn." This one's got some hooks that sneak up on you. Bandleader Mischa Dempsey sings about the neverending struggle to function as a numan being. The overall feeling is genuinely comforting, even if the message might not be.
In a press release, Dempsey says, "Lyrically, the song plays around with the push and pull between trying to keep your head above water and wanting to give up on that and just have fun. Above all, it’s about knowing the period of recklessness in your early 20s has an expiration date and seeing just how long you can push it." Check out the Marlaena Moore-directed video below.
Souvenir is out 6/26 via Mint.
