Finn Wolfhard Announces New Album Fire From The Hip: Hear “I’ll Let You Finish”

Finn Wolfhard released his debut solo album Happy Birthday last June. The Stranger Things star, PUP music video regular, and Replacements superfan had played in a couple of bands before, but Happy Birthday came about because he challenged himself to write 50 songs within a calendar year. I guess that challenge did him good, because Wolfhard already has a new album on the way.

Fire From The Hip is out this July, and it sees Wolfhard reach for a more hi-fi and dynamic sound than his previous album, which he made with Kai Slater of Lifeguard and Sharp Pins. In a press release, he explains that a lot of the album was inspired by him growing up "in such an incredible time for pop culture," which explains the genesis of today's lead single "I'll Let You Finish." In the final verse, he belts: "I sing country music, so thank you so much for giving me a chance to win a VMA award," before reciting Kanye West's infamous Taylor Swift interruption at the 2009 award show.

Wolfhard has been playing "I'll Let You Finish" live a few times since last year, so it's already had him in hot water with Swifties. I, for one, think it's funny. You can listen to it below, where you'll also find the full Fire From The Hip tracklist.
