How would you describe JPEGMAFIA's music? "Experimental rap," perhaps? Well, that's the title of the hip-hop provocateur's upcoming album. The follow-up to 2024's I Lay Down My Life For You arrives next month, and its lead single "babygirl" is out now.
We don't know much about Experimental Rap yet, but according to its Spotify pre-release page, it'll be a whopping 25 songs. "babygirl" kicks things off with a bouncy, uptempo beat, which doesn't get too experimental until the final 45 seconds or so when some metallic guitar shredding comes in: "Bitch got an ass that'll hold up bricks/ Better get low, high hopes get hit," Peggy raps. According to the Tidal credits, he produced the track too. Listen below.
Experimental Rap is out 5/21 via AWAL.
