Olivia Rodrigo's anticipated new album you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love is out next week, and the promotional train is rolling along. Today it has carried Rodrigo to London, where she paid a visit to BBC Radio 1.
In the Live Lounge, Rodrigo covered CMAT's excellent single "When A Good Man Cries," which elicited a positive review from the Euro Country singer herself. "she sang it better than me so now im toast," CMAT wrote on Instagram, before inviting Rodrigo out for some pints. Being honored in this way by Rodrigo, a superstar and known taste-haver, must be a nice boost to the self-esteem after last week's "deep sadness" over body shaming comments related to CMAT's performance at Radio 1's Big Weekend festival.
Rodrigo's appearance in the Live Lounge also included the first public performance of "the cure," her excellent new single that, again, is not about her pal Robert Smith. She was even backed by a string section, as on the studio version. Below, watch the CMAT cover, "The Cure," and CMAT's excited reaction.
How about "The Jamie Oliver Petrol Station" next time, Liv?
