Black Bananas Ready First New Album In 12 Years

Bunny Biskit

Black Bananas are back. Led by Royal Trux and RTX's Jennifer Herrema, the band last released a record in 2014 with their sophomore effort Electric Brick Wall on Drag City. Today, the trio is announcing their signing to Fire Records and a new album called Bad Bunch.

All we know about Bad Bunch is that it arrives this year. According to Fire Records' announcement, we also know that Herrema is working on a retail space built from her archive to accompany the album. It'll feature "bespoke, upcycled one-off pieces, limited-edition art objects, accessories, and 'Lost Arc' materials drawn from decades of accumulated work."

In 2015, Herrema curated a soundtrack for an art installation, recruiting acts like Kurt Vile, MGMT, and Hot Chip. She also contributed to the Avalanches' 2016 LP Wildflower, and partook in a Royal Trux reunion a couple years later, which was not without drama.
