It's diss track time. Quicksand release their new album Bring On The Psychics next month, and so far we've heard "Get To It," "Regenerate," and "Crystallize." Today, the grunge greats are picking fights on their latest single "Cool Guy."
"'Cool Guy' is like an OG HC diss track, like 'Small Man, Big Mouth' by Minor Threat or 'Hypocrite' by Negative Approach," the band explains. "Sometimes you just gotta get those negative emotions out."
I definitely feel like they could be meaner. Nevertheless, it's fun to have a diss track at all from Quicksand. After many lyrics about a self-proclaimed Cool Guy who "[brings] everyone down" and "always [tries] a little too much," vocalist/guitarist Walter Schreifels contemplates that maybe he himself is the problem, and then dismisses the thought immediately: "It could be me when I reflect/ But it probably isn't." That is just very funny. But who is it about? Sound off in the comments. I'm bored and love drama.
The tune comes with a music video directed and produced by Jesse Korman. Watch below.
Bring On The Psychics is out 7/17 on Equal Vision.
