Right now, Rosalía is on a global arena tour behind her staggering 2025 album Lux. The reports from the shows have been rapturous, and thanks to the way Rosalía showcases her fellow famous folks, the tour dates regularly made the news. Before singing "La Perla," Rosalía takes a confession from a different guest. At past gigs, she's brought out people like Karol G, Marcello Hernández, and Lola Young to tell personal stories; a Maggie Rogers bad-date narrative went especially viral. On Monday night, Rosalía played the Oakland Arena, and her guest was Chappell Roan.
Chappell Roan hasn't made too many public appearances lately, and she hasn't given a full performance since Lollapalooza Brazil, where she did not Jorginho's stepdaughter cry. Last night, Rosalía welcomed Roan to her stage. I don't get the impression that they know each other very well, but they do seem to be mutual admirers, which makes perfect sense. Stepping into Rosalía's confessional, Roan took inspiration from Lola Young's appearance at a previous show and told the story behind one of her songs.
In a long but charming back-and-forth, Chappell Roan told a tale about going out to LA to write music with an unnamed figure and finding a sudden romantic spark with that person, only to find out that they met someone else shortly after their first date with Roan. Roan broadly implied that that's the backstory behind her song "Casual," and she also attempted to explain the meaning of the word "faucet" to Rosalía. Watch some fan videos below.
