The Green Day road-trip comedy looms ever-closer. The band worked with Live Nation to produce Nimrods, a new movie about a punk band who goes on a desperate trek to open for Green Day, who naturally appear as themselves. We posted the trailer a little while ago, and the movie hits theaters next month. Today, Green Day announce the Nimrods soundtrack, and they share a new song the they recorded for the picture.
The Nimrods soundtrack mostly consists of old Green Day hits — a lot of them — and selections from Analog Dogs, the movie's fictional punk band. Mckenna Grace, the most famous of the younger Nimrods cast members, is on there, too. So is a brand-new Green Day song called "I'm Never Gonna R.I.P." It's a shiny rockabilly goof that plays around with the "Jailhouse Rock" cadence. You'll find that song and the tracklist for the Nimrods soundtrack below.
