The bleak, demoralizing Green Day movie Nimrods hits theaters tomorrow, but the premiere transpired on Wednesday (Aug. 12) at the Hollywood American Legion Post 43. Brian Bell was there and spontaneously offered an update on the Weezer movie, which we first learned about last year when Rivers Cuomo told the Coachella crowd.
When asked by LA's Alt 98.7 if Weezer were going to make a movie, Bell said, "We already have. Although I'm not supposed to talk about it. But yes, it's in the can. It's gonna be incredible. You'll see it in 2027."
Green Day and Weezer both broke out in 1994, and they played the Hella Mega Tour together in 2021-2022, and fans spotted a Weezer poster in a trailer for the Green Day movie.
It's unclear if, like Nimrods, the Weezer movie is a Live Nation Studios production, but the company did released a new trailer for its next movie, Rolling Loud, today. It has cameos from Travis Scott, Sexyy Red, and an Aphex Twin shirt. See related media below.
