The Avalanches are prolific collaborators, and the same is true of Faith No More/Mr. Bungle frontman Mike Patton. Up until now, the Avalanches and Patton have never worked together, but that changes right now. The Avalanches are currently in the midst of rolling out their new album No Bad Memories, which comes out next month. Today, Patton announces that he appears on three new Avalanches tracks, one of which also features Haley Joel Osment.
The Avalanches haven't unveiled a tracklist for No Bad Memories yet. When they announced the album last month, they shared the Portraits Of Tracy collab "Can’t Get Over Losing You." They've also released a handful of other recent singles, all of which have featured guests: "Together," with Nikki Nair, Jessy Lanza, and Prentiss; "Every Single Weekend," with Jamie xx, and "Blue Shadows," with Karen O. We don't yet know for sure whether those tracks will appear on No Bad Memories, but it feels like a good bet.
On Instagram, Mike Patton confirms that he's on three No Bad Memories tracks: "Total Recall," "Superfun™ TV Spot," and "Paradise Island." "Superfun™ TV Spot" also features Haley Joel Osment, who was part of the early No Bad Memories teasers and who, as far as I know, doesn't have any background as a musician, though his acting roles have certainly had their effect on music. (Funny, he was in a film called AI, and my sixth sense telling me to off heem.) "Paradise Island," meanwhile, also features the Tunisian footwork producer Khadija Al Hanafi.
No Bad Memories is out 10/16 on Modular. Next year, Patton and Faith No More will play their first live shows together in 11 years.
