Over the past year or so, UK duo Bassvictim captured a lot of people's imaginations with their blown-out, hedonistic take on experimental bedroom-pop. We were really into their EP ?, which came out earlier this year. It appears that Bassvictim have settled any beef with their hyperpop peer and remix client daine, and they're about to head out on a North American tour, so it's a good time for a new single.
The new Bassvictim song "Jagódki (Blueberries)" is a warped, childlike electroclash track, with singer Maria Manow chanting in Polish over producer Ike Clateman fizzy, cartoonish thump. (Google tells me that "Jagódki" is, in fact, Polish for "little blueberries.") Clateman also directed the track's incongruous video, a montage of boxers sparring in an extremely brightly lit gym.
