Isaac Eiger used to be the frontman of the New York indie pop band Strange Ranger. Right after their breakup, he started making his own music under the name Threshold. Back in 2023 and 2024, we posted his singles "Dream All Night," "Century," and "Baby." Eiger took some time off from releasing new music, but he came back yesterday with the new song "Stillwater."

It's not that Isaac Eiger hasn't been busy. In the time since his 2024 mini-album Thief, he has racked up songwriting credits on records from ADÉLA, Chanel Beads, and Frost Children, and he plays bass in the New York band Voyeur. Threshold, meanwhile, is his vehicle for old-school stripped-down singer-songwriter music, and that's what "Stillwater" is. It's a graceful midtempo piano ballad with a heartstring-tugging chorus, and I don't know whether it has anything to do with the band from Almost Famous. Below, check out the Daniel Patrick Brennan-directed "Stillwater" video and Threshold's upcoming live shows.
