"Why" is an It's Not Me, It's You b-side. It is also Lily at her most vulnerable, aww. She could be a better person, maybe that's why you don't love her? The first lines say it all: "Why aren't I one of these interesting people whose always got something to say / To not be contrived and to feel so alive and to never have wasted a day." The rest are building on that tenderly rendered and orchestral self-loathing, bemoaning always talking in circles, her lack of information retention, and asking "Why is my phone full of so many numbers and why doesn't anyone call?" Somebody's in serious need of some MySpace kudos.
