For its Take Away Shows video series, the French website La Blogothèque records artists performing acoustically, without microphones, in locations around Paris. For the latest entry in the series, the former Gowns leader Erika M. Anderson, along with a backup violinist, sang three songs from Past Life Martyred Saints, her debut album as EMA, in three different locations, including a construction site and an honest-to-god crypt. Past Life Martyred Saints is out now on Souterrian Transmissions. For my money, it's easily the best album of 2011.
