Watch Kendrick Lamar On SNL & “YOLO” Digital Short
Here’s yet another indication, if we really needed one, that Kendrick Lamar is a freshly minted star: This weekend, he made his debut as Saturday Night Live’s musical guest, managing to shine on a difficult stage. With a full live band, Kendrick absolutely rapped his ass off, doing “Swimming Pools (Drank)” and a Drake-free version of “Poetic Justice.” But here’s the real news: The Lonely Island made their triumphant return to SNL for the first time since those guys all left the show, and they gave Kendrick the all-important Nicki-on-“The Creep” guest spot. The Joy Formidable-sampling Lonely Island song is called “YOLO,” it’s also got a hook from inexplicable SNL host Adam Levine, and Kendrick nails his exceedingly goofy bit. Watch the short and the two performances below.
Kendrick’s instant-classic album Good Kid, m.A.A.d City, is out now on TDE/Interscope.
