George Duke died yesterday at the age of 67. Duke was a legendary keyboardist, composer, and band leader whose legacy on jazz and funk can be found all over. Aside from playing on Michael Jackson’s classic Off The Wall, and some later records by Miles Davis, Duke was also a prolific composer for films and television. His work found its way into the samples of many other artists as well, like the early MF Doom cut “I Hear Voices” and Daft Punk’s “Digital Love.” Below you can watch Duke play a solo while performing with Frank Zappa (whose introduction is a tribute that trumps any of the obituaries I’ve read today) and stream 1979’s “I Love You More.”
